Our Missionary Associate position opened our eyes to the needs of the world. It also helped us to see how much we have left to fulfill in the great commission. We now have a greater respect for all missionaries. We met many great new friends with whom we will be in contact for years to come.

My MA position made me realize just how much further I have to go in my walk with God. It also increased my burden for people. My
most pleasant aspect of the work that I did was simply being able to
love the students and having the opportunity to disciple them. Overall my time in Denmark was an incredible experience and will forever be remembered.

“Being
an Internet Missionary Associate allows me to use technology to
minister around the world through direct evangelism and through helping
other ministries develop their online ministries. It is so encouraging
to see how God is using the Internet to minister through Blogs,
Streaming Audio and Video, Podcasting, Email, Chat Rooms, and other
information distribution tools that are quickly becoming part of many
people’s daily lives.”

Leslie Latona is a missionary associate in Bogotá, Colombia. She recently sent the following update on her ministry there:
“After
much prayer and thought I have decided to stay in Colombia for another
year. As Americans it is difficult to imagine teaching the gospel to
children without resources—the Colombian evangelical church is still
very young, and they lack the exciting methods of creative teaching
necessary to present the gospel. There is a real hunger to learn and
reach out to others, especially children. The Lord is calling me to be
part of this important season of church development and outreach in
Colombia.
“An example: Our teenage ministry group
from El Camino went to my church one Sunday to present children’s
church. The children were so thrilled by the presentation that the
pastor’s wife had the ministry group present a song in front of the
church at the end of the service. Since that time, the church has been
requesting a repeat visit. They were excited about me teaching them how
to reach their own children using clowns, puppets, and drama. On May
14, I will be presenting a two-hour workshop to the teens and
children’s church workers.
“During Easter break
the Lord opened the door for me to go to Ecuador for five days. I met
my good friend Janine Caruthers, who has been working with pastors in
Quito for the past year presenting Bible school curriculum. Every night
we ministered in churches. I had the opportunity to share about using
drama in evangelism. People were so excited! I’ve been invited back to
Ecuador to work at a youth camp for 400 teenagers.
“I
will be back in the States from May 31through July 28, 2005, to visit
churches and friends and raise support for these new ministry
opportunities. Please join me in prayer as I seek to do the Lord’s will
here in Colombia.”
